Aerial Photographs
Using helicopters or light aircraft, we cover most of the southern half of the UK and are noted for good angles, crispness of image and appropriate choice of weather.
Frequently used by the Highways Agency, major consulting engineers and all the top construction companies, the past 25 years have covered much of the motorway and trunk road projects, Channel Tunnel Rail Link, airport development, Heathrow Express and many water control and treatment projects. We do our own colour printing for maximum quality control.
Larger helicopters with extra passenger capability can be used.
Commission Work
On this basis I hire the aircraft and choose the best weather within the time frame allowable. You will pay for all flying costs, film and time, and I will provide proof prints. I will need clear and precise instructions, maps etc. If the area is within London a twin engine helicopter is mandatory. Whilst quite costly, there are at least 3 spare seats available and I would take off from either Elstree or Redhill. I can pick up from clear spaces with permission of the owner. I shoot on either large format film camera or hi resolution digital (12 mpx). Anywhere south of Oxford is the general coverage.
Specific
Individual specific sites can be picked out eg for planning purposes, compensation claims, recording ground activities and one-off construction events such as bridge lifts. I can with notice arrange to overfly at a percise time. Much of my work is for local councils updating land and building use.
Fly By
This, as the name implies, is the economic option where time is of little import. Provided the site does not require special clearances from the CAA I can take shots when in the area for other work. This can be done for as little as £100 per site. You may wait several weeks for this to occur. It could be tomorrow depending on the weather.
Legal Clearances
There are height restrictions over built up areas. With the twin engine Helicopter this can still be down to 500'. London has special constraints within the Specified Rules Area and sites close to Heathrow are difficult if not impossible to overfly. My pilot arranges this usually with my information. Experience has taught me not to rely on "In the Air" instructions from clients. It is very difficult to recognize buildings from 1000' without practice so I always have a briefing session with all concerned first.
Library
Over the last 30 years I have built up an archive of hundreds of shots. These obviously become dated and tend to be general views. Please ask for a list. I have a few very old historic aerial shots of the local area in my Historic Archive.
